100 miles of nature in our city
CyanLines is the bold plan to link and transform Manchester’s green and blue spaces – its squares, pocket parks, rivers, canals and viaducts – to enable residents and visitors alike to enjoy, understand and better connect with nature and each other.
Our vision is for over 100 miles of CyanLines network, connecting existing and proposed linear parks, green corridors and traffic-free walking or cycling routes and, where needed, bridge gaps by building new connections across Manchester and Salford city centres and linking to the rest of Greater Manchester’s boroughs.
Our launch film outlines how we’re taking the seed of an idea, to create a greener and healthier place for all Mancunians, out to the world. From leaders to business owners, developers to community groups, charities to residents – the call to action is to join our collective force for change.

“Manchester is on a mission to make our city greener. CyanLines is an exciting new initiative over the next decade to connect and create over 100 miles of connected parks, green spaces and waterfronts.”
Councillor Bev Craig, Leader, Manchester City Council
Cyan Lines will be a series of projects which will be identified, assessed and delivered through partnerships created by bringing together businesses, public sector agencies, charity and voluntary sector organisations, community groups and individuals.
“Our Cyan Lines network will not just connect these amazing spaces but will create opportunities for more projects and for residents, community groups, businesses and charities to get involved.”
Tom Bloxham MBE CBE, Chair, Urban Splash
“By reclaiming our urban spaces, connecting them up and creating green vibrant life, where people and nature can thrive, we will deliver a truly incredible legacy for Greater Manchester and the millions living across its ten connected boroughs.”
Pete Swift, CEO, Planit
