Huge thanks to everyone who braved the weather and joined our CL3 – St Peter’s Square to Whitworth Park walk on Sunday 29 March.
The rain soon stopped as we ventured from the Emmeline Pankhurst statue, led by Jonathan Schofield, past the Bridgwater Hall and on to the Rochdale Canal to Oxford Road.
From there, we had a quick stop opposite the Kimpton Hotel and then it was on to CircleSquare to visit the parks which are bringing life back to banks of the Medlock and attracting nature to the centre of the development. Great to hear all about it from Pete Swift.
We then crossed to the other side of Oxford Road to visit the very popular All Saints Park at The Manchester Metropolitan University home to 90 (yes 90) different species of trees and plants! Before moving through the lovely landscaped park at the Alliance Manchester Business School and on to Brunswick Park, once a road it is now a beautiful park which is hugely popular for graduation photography and TikTokers.
We then ventured into the recently landscaped Quad at The University of Manchester, there’s lots of new planting here and it’s sure to really sparkle with life in the coming weeks.
We took a slight detour from our CL route, mainly because there is simply so much to see and learn about on this route it was impossible to fit it all into our time slot for the walk, but also to admire the Holy Name Church.
We then made it to Whitworth Park and Art Gallery to conclude the walk. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much we did!
Our next walk will see us explore CL2 Mayfield, New Islington and Ancoats and will be held on Saturday 02 May. Click here to secure your spot.
