Future plans

Cyan Lines will be much more than an explorable network of our green and blue spaces, it will also be a series of projects which will be identified, assessed and delivered through partnerships created by bringing together businesses, public sector agencies, charity and voluntary sector organisations, community groups and individuals.

The programme will enrich all our lives, but also help to deliver against key city strategies such as Greater Manchester’s Local Nature Recovery Plan, our Green and Blue Infrastructure Strategy, Our Rivers Our City, City Centre Movement Plan, and the Irwell River Park. CyanLines is a city wide regeneration project for nature and people.

As well as connecting together the green and blue spaces that already exist, a huge pipeline of new opportunities, new connections and missing links will be unlocked through a series of CyanLines projects. These will range from partner interventions like the future phases of Castlefield Viaduct, to the idea of a new river walkways, new areas of green space and hyper-local projects such as food growing planters in housing developments or balcony gardening lessons.

Did you know?

Liveability? It’s a green space thing. An interconnected network of multifunctional green spaces, along with water bodies offers a whole raft of environmental, social, and economic benefits, significantly enhancing livability for local residents.

Get moving, with CyanLines. Studies show that levels of physical activity for local residents increase with greater access to green and blue spaces.

The CyanLines team plans to fulfil its purpose by inviting residents, community groups, businesses and charities to collaborate and share their ideas for projects and initiatives with them. The CyanLines team will assess how the ideas could be supported and delivered by drawing on their growing network of supporting organisations.
